We're excited to introduce Map Styler GPT, the newest free tool in the WebMapGPT Suite.
Map Styler GPT helps you create complete, panscalar web-map design aesthetics using ordinary descriptive language. Describe the visual world you want your map to inhabit, and the tool will research relevant references, identify useful design traditions, and translate that inspiration into a detailed cartographic style system.
Each result includes recommendations for colors, typography, linework, symbols, interface components, layout, interaction patterns, and map marginalia. You receive the finished schema in two formats:
- Markdown for easy reading, review, teaching, and documentation.
- JSON for plugging directly into web-mapping agents and development workflows.
You can also upload photographs, artwork, maps, posters, interfaces, or other visual references. Map Styler GPT will analyze them, research related examples, and help turn their visual language into a coherent map-design system.
So far, we've used it to create map styles inspired by IKEA catalogs, Macromedia Flash MX, historical atlases, favorite children's books, publication design systems, transit graphics, and many other gloriously specific corners of visual culture.
