Injury records: OSHA Severe Injury Reports, provided as osha_sir_forklift_records.csv. Coordinates came from latitude/longitude fields in the CSV.
Fatality records: OSHA fatality records, provided as Forklift_Fatalities_USA_(OSHA).gpkg. The GeoPackage was converted from Web Mercator to WGS84 for browser projection.
Map geography: U.S. state outlines are loaded from the public us-atlas TopoJSON package. Projection is D3’s composite U.S. Albers equal-area projection.
Interpretation: This map shows reported records in the supplied datasets, not a complete census of all forklift-related harm.
